Community Engagement – Sharrow Partnership and Sharrow Community Forum

Sharrow Community Forum has been asked by Sharrow Partnership to take the lead on talking to and finding out the thoughts, concerns and ideas of local people and how they see the delivery of service provision and ultimately how it can be developed more towards local need. Our team of Community Engagement Workers are on board to help make sure all of this happens. Check out the team page to find out who they are!

As well as offering field trips for local people to visit different projects across the region and training days, the Community Engagement Team uses forums, questionnaires, interviews, and workshops on a whole range of themes to find out what is important to Sharrow residents. Some of the areas that the team are working on with local people include:

Green Space Development – mapping of green spaces, ideas for developing parks, small green areas, concerns about maintenance and ownership, working directly with different service providers around the development of certain green spaces.

Neighbourhood Wardens – Consulting and exploring what local people feel about developing a community warden service in the area and what a warden’s job should include.

Street Scene – finding out what local people think of litter, graffiti, bins. How can things be improved? Where are the hotspots? How can local people get involved with making these changes?

For the last 18 months Bev, Ruth, Nicola and Samia, our Community Engagement team have been out and about in the community looking into all these areas want to continue getting the community involved and find out your suggestions!

If you’re a local resident who would like to get involved just give us a call on 2584103 or drop us an email at info@sharrowpartnership.org.uk and we’ll get right back to you!

Have your say…….

Would you like to have your say about your area?  Are there things that you feel never get sorted?

Lucky for you, residents of the Sharrow community, the area was chosen by Sheffield City Council to pilot a Neighbourhood Management programme called Sharrow Partnership.

What is Neighbourhood Management I hear you cry!  Well, to put it bluntly it’s a national initiative which seeks to enable people in the community to shape local public services and help address local needs.

Ruth Passey, Community Involvement worker for the Lansdowne area, said:

“Our role is to create links between the people in the community and those who make decisions within those services.”

“So, if you live in the Lansdowne, Club Garden Road area and feel there are issues which need resolving, or you would like to attend more events and activities call me on 0114 2584103.”

There’s more…

If you live in the Highfield, Shoreham Street area, you can get involved with the Tenants and Residents Association (TARA) meetings who meet monthly.   Here you can expect a lively chat with other local people and professionals working in the area.  The meetings give a great opportunity to influence how decisions are made regarding service provision. Phone Ruth on 2584103 to fint outr when the meeting is on.

The third patch is around Fieldhead and Glover Road where the engagement process is still in its very early stages.  As Community Engagement workers Samia Masood and Nicola will be out and about talking to people and hopefully getting to know you in the area!
